About Us

ce'aha! is the cumulation of three generations of makers who faced many adversities.

Alexis, the grandmother, was one of the first female engineers in to come from her mining town in Pennsylvania. She had always been told that she wouldn't make it, as she was a woman, and that she should just "settle down". Instead, she was one of six females to graduate from her university and fight back the myth that women in the field were "bad luck". She rallied and protested for the Equal Rights Amendment while pregnant with her daughter, and the second generation, Heather.

Heather's life was difficult. Her parents were separated by the time she was two, college dropout by 19, and living on her own in Texas by the time she was 20. There, she assisted the Lizard Lounge in Deep Ellum and really sank into her grunge roots. She excelled in design and art, putting those skills to use when working at Siebel. She got married, had two kids, and became a stay-at-home military mom. Unfortunately, this didn't last. Very suddenly, she and her kids were staying with family members to keep them from being homeless. She went back college to earn her Associate's degree in Microbiology Laboratory Technician and single-handedly made sure her kids got into their top choice universities. The older of the two is Al.

Al, named after his grandmother, watched first-hand how life can change in an instant. He was raised by his single mother and helped with his younger brother. By the time he was 12, he was being bullied every day relentlessly. By 16, he was diagnosed with anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Thankfully, he had art and jewelry-making as an escape. Since coming out and queer and trans, his jewelry has been able to blossom, no longer bound by expectations of what he has to be or make. He took the techniques taught to him by Alexis and the skills for color combination he learned from Heather and created his favorite thing to date: a business that honors the love he was given by those who came before him.
